Yoga studio etiquette; an easy-to-follow list for Hot Yoga

Many of our members know exactly what they’re walking into when coming to Healthletica. As a refresher for regulars and a briefing for newcomers, we created an easy-to-follow list for hot yoga. Take a look and enhance your yoga experience.

PLEASE:

  • Arrive at least 5 minutes prior to class; give extra time if it is your first time or you need to purchase something (IMPORTANT NOTE: Latecomers will not be allowed to enter the yoga studio since it’s disruptive to the instructor and members)
  • Remove your shoes at the front door
  • Remember to sign in for the class at reception
  • Store all personal belongings (bags, clothing, keys, silenced phones, etc.) in the change room (NO personal belonging are permitted in the yoga studio with the exception of a yoga mat, yoga props and a water bottle)
  • Maintain silence once you have entered the practice room
  • Lay your mat down quietly in the designated areas (align the top left corner of your mat with the white L-shape tape on the floor)
  • Breathe and listen to your body; you can always lie down in savasana or go into child’s pose at any time
  • Hydrate before and after class (we carry LMNT, a healthy & sugar-free electrolyte, which is great for proper hydration, so give it a try!)
  • Ask the instructor questions after class, if you have any
  • Many people are scent sensitive, so avoid the use of any perfumes or strong scented creams
  • Leave at least 1 hour between consuming food and practicing yoga.

What to bring:
  • A yoga mat (if you don’t have one, you can rent or purchase one from us)
  • A water bottle (we have water for sale, if needed)
  • A towel (to wipe off your sweat)
  • A smile (because yoga at Healthletica is fun!)

Do you slip on your mat during your yoga practice?

We recommend trying one of our yoga mats designed specifically for the hot yoga environment. Slipping on your mat is dangerous and can lead to injury. We want everyone to be safe in their yoga practice. Speak to one of our front desk staff about a hot yoga mat that is right for you.

Please note that we sell and rent yoga mats and towels.  Mat rental: $2, Towel rental: $2

  • This Quick "Spaghetti" Bolognese is so easy to make and absolutely delicious! All you need is a handful of wholesome ingredients like spaghetti squash, ground beef, tomato passata & garlic. ๐Ÿฅฉ๐Ÿง„๐Ÿ…๐ŸŒฑ

It's a hearty & quick week night or weekend meal. Gluten & grain free + low-carb. โœ…

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸปINGREDIENTS
1 lb grass-fed ground beef
1 spaghetti squash
1.5 cup tomato passata
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp. dried basil, or 2-3 fresh basil leaves
1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
Sea salt & black pepper , to taste

๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸปINSTRUCTIONS
Spaghetti Squash:
Cut spaghetti squash lengthwise and remove seeds with spoon.
Bake at 400 for 30-40 min (first 10-min bake with flesh down, then turn so skin is down for remaining time). Fork should pierce skin easily when squash is cooked. 
Use a fork to scrape out the strands of squash.
Quick Bolognese Sauce:
In a sauce pan, briefly sautรฉ garlic and dried basil in olive oil over medium heat. If you are using fresh basil, add basil leaves in after step 2.
Add tomatoes and bring to a light boil for 5 minutes. Add salt to taste.
Bring to medium-low heat and let simmer for 20-minutes.
In a separate pan, cook ground beef over medium heat until lightly browned. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Add tomato sauce into pan with beef and let ingredients cook together over medium-low heat for a few minutes.
Place quick bolognese sauce on top of spaghetti squash and enjoy!
